Owen Sound Field Naturalists

Owen Sound, ON naturalists organization, created in 1989 to provide Grey and Bruce naturalists with an opportunity to meet like-minded individuals and enjoy activities and programs that would allow them to increase their understanding of natural history and conservation.

North Country Trail Association

Western Canada Wilderness Committee

The largest membership-based, citizen-funded wilderness preservation organization in Canada. Dedicated to saving wilderness and wildlife; inspired and informed by the wild places it seeks to protect. The organization has campaigned successfully to protect millions of hectares of Canadian wilderness in over 40 key wilderness areas. Its educational mission is supported by a strong research and mapping program, strategic alliances with other environmental groups, First Nations and community leaders, and regular expeditions into threatened wilderness areas



Michigan United Conservation Clubs

The largest statewide conservation organization in the nation. Mission is to unite citizens to conserve Michigan's natural resources and protect its outdoor heritage. MUCC works to conserve Michigan's wildlife, fisheries, waters, forests, air, and soils by providing information, education and advocacy.




A coalition of environmental and social justice groups in northeastern Ontario. Addresses environmental and social concerns related to natural resource use, particularly mining and logging, and other regional issues such as toxic waste, the nuclear industries and waste disposal schemes, and air and water quality.

A citizens' environmental group in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.



Algoma Forest Local Citizens Committee

Advises the MNR District Manager on forest management planning issues, assists planning teams in the preparation of forest management plans, and assists in the implementation of forest management plans.

Great Lakes Bioneers

“A forum for connecting the environment, health, social justice, and spirit within a broad progressive framework.” Sponsors conferences and workshops on a variety of environmental issues, including alternative energy, sustainability, and climate change. Stephanie Mills, the Sault Naturalists’ 2005 annual meeting speaker, received the 2008 Bioneer Award for having "engaged the ecology movement for more than 30 years."



Central Lake Superior Land Conservancy

Mission is to promote the protection of natural, agricultural, recreational, historic, and scenic lands through the use of conservation easements, land donations, and education.




Incorporated by the Lakehead Environmental Action Group (LEAG) to address environmental issues for Thunder Bay and area.



The Nature Conservancy in Michigan

Mission of the Nature Conservancy is to preserve the plants, animals, and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive.

Algoma Forest Local Citizens Committee

The Sault Ste. Marie District Local Citizens' Committee (LCC) is mandated by the Crown Forest Sustainability Act and the Environmental Assessment Act. Its primary functions are as follows: Advising the Ministry of Natural Resources District Manager on forest management planning issues, assisting planning teams in the preparation of forest management plans, and assisting in the implementation of forest management plans. The LCC also contributes to other resource management issues. The public is welcome to attend meetings of the LCC, which are normally held the second Monday of every month.



City of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan

Provides City Commission agendas, information about city parks, etc.



LSSU Aquatic Research Lab

Mission is to combine education and research on aquatic biota and their associated habitats within the Great Lakes basin to serve the academic, scientific, and public communities. Information about the St. Marys River and its lake sturgeon, Atlantic salmon etc.
