2017 Bird Sightings

November 2, 2017. Gail Smith writes: I was given your email address as a contact to Sault Naturalists.  My husband and I live in Wawa.  Since Oct. 16, we have had an unusual bird at our feeder.  We eventually identified him/her as a Eurasian Tree Sparrow.  We thought your members might be interested to know this.  The attached photo was taken today by Carol Dersch.  If you have questions, please phone us at 705-856-7296

November 2, 2017. Carter Dorscht photographed this female Harlequin Duck in the St. Marys River, directly out from the MNRF District Office in Sault Ste. It was foraging for grubs with a small flock of juvenile starlings on his front lawn.  It then flew to a nearby tree where he took the following picture.

May 23, 2017. Jim Hurvid reports a sighting of a Yellow-headed Blackbird at 7:30 pm May 23 on his bird feeder at 1034 Carpin Beach Road, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
